East Palo Alto, San Mateo County
East Palo Alto lies in San Mateo County, across San Francisquito Creek from Palo Alto. In 1916 Charles Weeks founded a poultry colony here called Runnymede, where families raised chickens on one-acre lots, and some of those deep lots survive. The community incorporated in 1983. Cooley Landing, a former wharf and dump on the bay, has been restored as a shoreline park.
